Manolo Ruiz was born in Barcelona in 1958 and started riding as a teenager. His professional career was originally in commerce and marketing, but by the age of 33, Manolo decided to move back to the home of his forefathers in Andalusia, in the south of Spain, and dedicate himself to horseridingholidays. He designed and set up all the existing routes around the area, opening up once again many forgotten paths of the Sierra Nevada and Cabo de Gata area.  Manolo is currently vice-president of the Andalusian Equestrian Tourist board. His clients describe him as been a chilled out and relaxed guide that makes the most of life and takes brilliant care of all the finer details of his holidays himself.

Dalla owns the longest established holiday riding centre in the Alpujarra. Since 1987 her top quality spanish horses have provided unforgettable holidays for hundreds of people. Dalla came to Spain from the U.K. as a child and has rarely been far from a saddle since. Working with horses most of her adult life, she established the first stables in the Alpujarra and now has more than 20 horses. The horses have been backed and schooled by Dallas and her brother Mordecai, a professional dressage trainer. Many of the horses have a basic training in classical dressage.

The owner and guide, Rafael is a political science graduate who preferred the peace of a small village in the mountains to the hustle and bustle of his home city, Madrid. He moved to the Alpujarra more than twenty years ago, where he started his horse-riding adventure. An entertaining and charming man who is fluent in Spanish, French and English, he will ensure you enjoy a wonderful riding holiday.

Five years ago I met Manolo in his riding centre in Andalusia and I launched ‘Horse riding holidays in Andalusia’. Due to its success, I decided to quit my regular job and devote myself entirely to the sale of horse riding holidays in Spain and the rental of our group- and hiking accommodation la Balsa. I now live mostly in Andalusia in “la Balsa” and I extended my range to the Alpujarra, Pyrenees and Alicante.

I am a member of the Guarantee fund for Specialised Tour Operators (GGTO). If you want to stay informed of new routes and offers you can ‘like’ my facebookpage or you can email or call me.

I wish you a very nice ride and a great horse riding holiday.

Sara established her riding centre back in 1993. Since then it has grown to become one of the leading and most well known equestrian centres in Andalusia. On offer are rides between 1 hour and multi-day excursions into the hills and mountains. Novices and children are most welcome, as are single travellers. For the advanced rider there are challenging trails on offer in the glorious mountain scenery of the Sierra Nevada. Her Trekking Centre offers horse riding holidays in Spain´s most southern mountain range. We are situated on a small plateau at a height of 1200 meters above the spa town of Lanjaron in the Alpujarra region of Andalusia, close to Granada. Wonderful views of the surrounding countryside, hills and Sierra Nevada mountains are evident in all directions! You can even see the coastline of Africa on a clear day.

During his infancy and youth Salvador was in love with horses and outdoor riding and he starts his professional career in the beginning of the nineties as co-founder and later secretary of “the of Friends of Nature”, which was dedicated to the upbringing of horses in freedom, as he and his associates dreamed of possessing a herd of horses in freedom, to be able to ride and enjoy them like the American Indians. Halfway through 2002 he gets the opportunity to establish for himself in the Lleida Pyrenees profiting from equestrian facilities in disuse in a small village, where he creates his riding centre, since the possibilities for high-mountain routes and crossings, riding schools and classes, meadows and pastures for the living and breeding of horses in liberty or semi-liberty were immense.
